CAN is the voice for everyday people on bikes

NZ Bike Expo was brought to you by CAN, the Cycling Action Network. CAN is a network of cycling advocacy groups throughout New Zealand. Our vision is for cycling to be an everyday activity in New Zealand – more people on bikes, more often!

Our goal in creating the very first NZ Bike Expo in Christchurch was to grow our bicycle community. With the Expo we brought together everyone who's into biking, in all its forms, and generated a positive buzz and excitement. The NZ Bike Expo connected industry suppliers and services with people who love cycling, in an environment where everyone was inspired to take the next step on their journey.

CAN is an incorporated society with a small office in Wellington and many volunteers. CAN and our member groups, including Spokes Canterbury in Christchurch, work with government, councils, businesses and people with a passion to:

  • Promote the benefits of cycling

  • Improve safety for cyclists

  • Encourage the creation of great cycling environments

  • Support cycle tourism

  • Increase the number of people on bikes
